Basketry Weaving – Square Basket
Learn the basic art of basketry in this course for beginners. Historically, any basket with a flat bottom, either square or rectangular has been broadly classified as a market basket. You will be guided step by step through each stage of the basket-making process while creating a rectangular market basket measuring approximately 10” x 10”, using rattan reed. You will learn various weaving techniques that will help you gain the knowledge needed to continue with this craft. A $20 material fee will be collected by the instructor at the beginning of the first class.
Basketry Weaving – Carolina Snowflakes
You’ll have fun creating these precious keepsake snowflakes or stars. The Carolina Snowflake is quick and easy-to-make. You will begin with the smallest and simplest size, to learn the technique, and then graduate to the medium size. Kit of $20 includes the materials to make two snowflakes, one 7 inches and one 10 inches, detailed photo instructions will be provided, which includes other sizes as well. Enjoy!
